Founded in 1898 and a charter member of the National Football League, the Cardinals are the oldest continuously operated franchise in professional football. While their history is a long and storied one, the Cardinals are currently enjoying one of the most exciting and successful stretches ever. The team has sold out every single home game played since the 2006 opening of State Farm Stadium, an iconic venue regarded as one of the finest in sports. Away from the field, the organization’s commitment to the community is a year-round mission, highlighted by the efforts of Cardinals Charities which was founded in 1990 to improve the quality of life and enhance opportunities for children, women and minorities in Arizona.
Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority is the owner of State Farm Stadium with the Arizona Cardinals & Fiesta Bowl being the main tenants.
Based in Scottsdale, the Fiesta Bowl is host to a variety of local events each year, as well as two elite bowl games – the Fiesta Bowl held at State Farm Stadium and the Cactus Bowl held at Chase Field. At the core of the organization is Fiesta Bowl Charities, which has contributed more than $8 million to Arizona nonprofits over the past six years.
The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA), owners of State Farm Stadium, is a Municipal Corporation dedicated to enhancing Arizona’s economy and the community's quality of life through the development of professional and amateur sports facilities, the attraction of entertainment, sporting, and business events, and through tourism promotion. AZSTA was created through an Act of the State Legislature (SB 1220) and referred to the voters of Maricopa County (Proposition 302), which was approved by the voters on November 7, 2000. AZSTA oversaw the design and construction of the stadium which was completed in August 2006. AZSTA is also responsible for distributing public funds generated by a tax on hotel beds and rental cars to additional stakeholders identified in Proposition 302, namely, youth and amateur sports, tourism promotion and Cactus League baseball.
